Low-Income Senior & Low-Income Disabled Citizen Utility Discount

The City of Prosser is offering a low-income senior and disabled citizen utility rate reduction. The rate reduction is available to low-income senior and disabled citizens that qualify for the discount in accordance with the Prosser Municipal Code.

 

Prosser Municipal Code defines a low-income senior citizen as an individual who is sixty-one (61) years of age or older on or before January 31st of the year of filing the application for exemption.  A low income disabled citizen is as an individual who is retired from regular, gainful employment by reason of a physical disability.  Both must have a combined disposable income as defined in RCW 84.36.383(4), (5), and (6) and assets, exclusive of one vehicle, and the residence for which the application for exemption is made of less than eighteen thousand dollars ($18,000) annually (see application form for definition of combined disposable income).

 

Applications can be picked up, filled out and submitted at the Benton Franklin Community Action Committee. They have two office locations:

Verification of all current household annual income (tax statements), age (drivers license/birth certificate), proof of occupancy, and/or disability information must accompany the application.
